Dental Services
Dr. Amare provides a variety of specialty and general dentistry services. She takes great care and pride providing the following services:
Teeth Cleaning
The health of the mouth is proven to directly impact the health of the body as a whole, unfortunately, many people are not aware of this. She has dedicated 20 years of her dental profession to educate and guide her patients in following a good oral hygiene habits and regular dental visits. Regular dental cleanings are necessary supplements to good oral hygiene habits.
Good oral hygiene starts with regular dental cleanings. Teeth are covered in a hard, outer coating called enamel. Every day, a thin film of bacteria called dental plaque builds up on your teeth. The bacteria in plaque produce acids that can harm enamel and cause cavities. Regular teeth cleaning helps remove periodontal disease causing plaque and tartar build-up.
Dr. Amare recommends twice a year dental cleanings for patients with no history of gum disease. Patients who participate in this highly recommended routine will have a good chance avoiding gum disease and all the health related complications.
Preventative Care
For good dental health, specifically individualized oral care is a necessity. Dr. Amare works closely with her patients to identify risk factors that would help determine the frequency of follow up appointments to strengthen the outcome of preventive care. Good oral hygiene and healthy mouth will prevent caries, gum disease and other related chronic diseases. Dr. Amare also works hard to instill good oral hygiene habits in her young patients.
Pediatric Dentist
Dr. Amare loves to work with children. She begins treating young children with clear communication and establishing trust. In addition regular dental visits help reinforce good oral hygiene habits. Another valuable preventive procedure is application of sealants for primary and permanent back teeth. Sealants have been proven to reduce cavities by 80% on the biting surfaces of the back teeth. However, sealants have to be closely monitored and replaced as they wear out. Research shows school age children without sealants have three times more cavities than children with sealants.
Fillings
Dr. Amare provides tooth colored fillings made from composite resins. The tooth colored fillings cost more than other types of fillings due to the time it takes to place them, these materials are technique sensitive and they have to be placed with great care, over a completely dry field. Tooth colored fillings are durable and can be placed on small to moderate size fillings. The larger size cavities are restored with crowns or caps.
The best dental fillings are the natural teeth. Prevention is the ultimate solution for no cavities and no gum disease. Dr. Amare works hard in keeping up with the regular dental exam and cleaning appointments to help eliminate or minimize the need for major restorative and periodontal work.
Porcelain veneers, Crowns, Bridges, Partials, Dentures and Implants
Veneers are recommended for permanently stained, cracked, chipped or slightly crooked front teeth. Crowns are recommended when a tooth can no longer support large fillings, after a root canal is done and to strengthen a weakened tooth.
Dr. Amare provides several ways to replace missing teeth. Bridges are primarily done to replace a single or multiple missing teeth and also to support a weekend tooth that can no longer hold a large filling. Complete and partial dentures are removable devices that can replace missing teeth and restore smiles.
However, this conventional method of restoring missing teeth is slowly being replaced by permanently cemented bridges and implants and more patients prefer these non-removable appliances. The more current and widely used technique to replace missing teeth is through implants. However, the surgical aspects of implants may not be covered by insurances and the cost factor is a concern for most patients. Dr. Amare works closely with the oral surgeons and periodontists to get the surgical aspects of the implant placed and completes the restorative components in her office. The complete process may take upto three months.
Root canals
Most root canals in the back teeth are referred out to a specialist. Dr. Amare does single rooted teeth in her office. After the root canal is completed, a permanent filing and a cap is recommended to protect the tooth from fracturing. Once the nerve is removed and root canal is done, the tooth becomes asymptomatic but much weaker, like an egg shell. Therefore, most of the back teeth need to be protected by placing a crown. On the front teeth, the concern is more of the gradual discoloration after the root canal, history of trauma with fracture and large cavities, calls the need to veneer the tooth or crown it.
Extractions
Dr. Amare does all simple extractions on adults and kids and refers out surgical extractions and all wisdom teeth extractions to oral Surgeons.
Digital Dental x-rays
Dental X- rays are necessary to evaluate oral health problems of the teeth, gum and the supporting bone. Early stage detection provides with more favorable treatment options and great results. Dr. Amare follows the most current regimen recommended by the ADA to take the digital dental X-Rays.
Teeth whitening
Teeth whitening is best performed under dental professional instructions and after a complete dental examination and diagnosis. Bleaching teeth is one way to improve one’s smile and it is affordable. Dr. Amare provides custom fabricated trays and dispenses 10%, 16% and 25% carbamide peroxide gels. Superficial stain can easily be polished and OTC bleaching tooth paste can help minimize further staining process. Tooth sensitivity is often the downside of bleaching teeth for several patients. Most patients use sensitivity toothpaste to relief discomfort during bleaching.
